Magnum Production was founded in December 2022 by Kriszta Antal and Brigitta Varga with the aim of creating performing arts productions in close cooperation with independent theatre artists.  The aim of Magnum is to provide an infrastructural background for the artists in which they can work in a concentrated and creative way.

We have both worked in the independent theatre field for many years, including a few years working closely together, where we quickly realised that we not only love working together, but we can work together well as similar values and ideas are impostant in our work.

We gained a lot of experience in the field of organisation and we started to recognise the shortcomings and pitfalls of the field and we increasingly felt that the independent theatre field was in great need of a background organisation to help productions get off the ground. We had been talking for years about a possible joint organisation and at one point we decided that, regardless of the situation around us, we would dare to dream big and go for it and after much preparation we set up our production office in December 2022.

Our aim is to provide full management, organisation and administration services and to run independent theatre productions. In the long term, we want to put a strong emphasis on supporting independent artists and talent development. We will continue to look for funding and co-production partners to support the creation of new productions, as well as promoting and distributing our joint productions at home and abroad, and ensuring that they are given as many and as wide a range of opportunities as possible to be presented.

One of our most important principles is to build an equal partnership with the artists we work with, giving them our full attention and trust, and we expect the same from them.

We want Magnum to be a driver of cooperation where innovation, reflection and dialogue between artists and audiences are important. Openness to new art forms, diversity and reaching out to the widest possible generation. We want artists to feel safe here.
